It's been very difficult trying to find an apartment in Cusco! The one place I could afford on my own wasn't that nice at all, there was a huge hole in the wall connecting to the ceiling, mildly being concealed by a piece of plywood. The apartment was a studio inside this woman's house, and that was cool, definitely safe, but there was nothing for a kitchen and it was such a dark area. No windows except the hole. I'm also trying to find living with other teachers at Maximo, there are several people leaving so rooms are opening up, but there isn't a good network system here and everyone's schedule is different, so there are problems there too. UGH! On the upside once I find a place it shouldn't cost more than $100!! CRAZY! Time is also limited: between class, homework, lesson planning, and teaching I'm spread thin. On that note I've got to go type up my portfolio of lesson plans. I've been getting good observations, but there are a few key techniques I can't seem to get right. I "echo" a lot, whenever learners give me words I repeat what they said, and generally use unnecessary statements which increase my teacher talk time, and that's a big no. It's not easy changing a bad habit... insert another UGH! Today that is my goal for the lesson: DO NOT ECHO! What a mantra... I really do need to go work on my next few lesson plans but, drum role, I am done with class FRIDAY!!!!! This weekend my goal is to hop on as many bus rides to the surrounding ruins as I can, and Sunday night head down to Puno's Carnivale which I hear is INCREDIBLE! Thanks Grandma for telling me about it! I could have almost missed it!
New Cusqueno observations:
The fried rice here is better than in the US!
Rotisserie chicken and french fries have never tasted so good!
Juice concoctions are ingenious AND delicious AND safe for consumption!
on a similar note I am two weeks in without life halting parasites!
lastly there are awesome picture taking opportunities being made, so awesome pictures to be posted in the next week or so!
Love.

Goose-oose, i haven´t the foggiest idea as to what you could be refering to. I might be able to improve my student talk time if it wasn´t for you though...thanks for that.
